 Paper Jamz :  A review of the Paper Jamz guitar

The new Paper Jamz stock arrived with us this morning, i don’t know who was the most excited to get one out of the box.  Our son made his choice in relation to which one he wanted (the guitar with the American star).  The best way to describe his reaction to this paper Jamz guitar is ++++++++++++++++ excited.  Please bear in mind that the age for this product is recommended for 8+ our son is 4. 

Firstly I will give you a direct transcript of his words when the Paper Jamz guitar came out the box.  "My very own rock star"  " this is going to be cool" " I’m going to be a rock star" "how do we play music without strings"  He then broke into song " I’m going to be a rock star, I was dreaming about being a rock star"  I hope this sums up some of the initial excitement of the Paper Jamz guitar arriving.

My initial impressions - being a mum and maybe not having done as much research on them before purchacing as I should have done – was pleasant  surprise.  I was expecting a flimsy toy guitar made from paper/ cardboard.  In fact what we got was a fantastic, light weight guitar made from plastic - so I was obviously being a bit naive regarding the name.  It was wonderful that the batteries were included so a flick of the on switch and we were ready to go.  Well not so much me I haven’t been able to have a look in yet as 7 hours on from the initial welcoming of a Paper Jamz guitar into our home it has not left my sons side.   This is obviously a very good toy or I have a budding rock star in the making!!!. 

The Paper Jamz guitar comes with a quick starter guide - instructions of use this includes how to control the volume, and information about the different modes.

The Paper Jamz guitar has different modes:

Perfect Play Mode : strum along to songs you hear

Rhythm Mode: control the rhythm of guitar to included hits

Free style Mode: create your own hits by playing cords

Sleep Mode: this is a fantastic feature the guitar will enter this mode if not used for 5 minutes. 

 The  strings are an image on the guitar and these are touch sensitive to enable strumming etc on the Guitar itself (no real strings needed = no tuning or broken strings)

There is information about how to play real cords with your Paper Jamz Guitar - so for those who want to play their own music this seems like it would be a great way to learn.  Playing the cords and using the guitar to its full potential would be best suited to the recommended age range.  However, it has been great fun watching our son dance around the living room like a rock star - we didn’t know he had so many moves!!!

In relation to size as described the Guitar is thin and light weight hence its name Paper Jamz.  In relation to thinness of the guitar the head of the guitar is 1 cm approx, the handle is  2 cm approx ,  the widest  part of the  guitar is  the middle where the battery etc sits and this measures in at 5 cm approx. (excuse my lack of knowledge on how to refer to the various parts of a guitar)

So, in relation to first impressions fantastic value for money, looks like it will keep my son entertained for hours and definably encourages an interest in music and learning the guitar.  A fantastic toy to play with both inside and out as no cables / leads required.

 May need to buy some ear plugs!! or maybe not have just found out that ear phones can be connected to this wonderful paper Jamz Guitar (so this is an added bonus if needed)
