Who We are

We are a family run business set in Devon.  We decided to start up this web shop to increase our flexibility and gain a better balance of work and family life, so here we are!  

We are a three-generational team.  Each of us has unique skills and knowledge that we combined to help Trifle Toys develop. 

We felt there was a need for a Toy Shop that offered a variety of quality innovative products.   We strongly believe that learning is a part of growing up that this should be fun and subtly integrated in play activities in the early years.

We have a relatively hectic daily life - full of the fun of what family life brings. 

Our Team

Simon:  Dad

Simon is a Technology and Robotics specialist. He is experienced in sourcing and developing products for the worldwide market.  Simon has the vision of enabling kids to be learning about technology whilst playing with everyday fun toys.

Helen:   Mum 

Helen an Occupational Therapist (Msc) by profession, her post graduate qualifications include a Teaching Qualification at Post Graduate Level.  She continues to teach both within the PCT and Universities (when time permits).  Helen has the view that Childs play has a very important role in development.  Enabling parents to understand the links between play and learning can be beneficial.

Mary: Nanna

Nanna is a Qualified Practice Nurse.  Nanna is always on standby for those toy testing accidents (none so far!!)

Jim: Grandad

Grandad is a Senior Specialist in Electronics and Technical support. 

Derick: Grandad

Grandad is our accountant.  Derick is a very important team member keeping our finances in check!!

Sally:

 Auntie - Sally is our London based marketing consultant, she has a good understanding of the importance of toys and learning being a mum of three.

Connor and Rionna:

Children (the toy testers -- very lucky it’s not everyone’s parents who own a toy shop!!)

Trifle has a  number of sales representatives out in the community.

We have searched for ranges of toys that will subtlety encourage learning during play. We hope that you enjoy shopping here as much as we have enjoyed sourcing the toys. Many of the toys are tried and tested by our children and their friends.

The toys in this shop include: Eco, Solar, Construction, Creative play and Infant /Pre-School Toys. These toys have been chosen as they encourage development and interest in many areas: including Sciences, Technology and Creative play.  The toys can help children work towards the Key Stage Educational Curriculum.

These toys are suitable for play at home and will also be of interest to teachers looking for creative ways to teach in the Classroom

Look for build-it-yourself toys. Children and Adults can build and play with these toys together. Remember to talk to the child about what you are doing whilst you play as this will encourage language and learning development.
